The El Nazar Church is situated in the Zemi Valley, to the east of the town of Göreme. It is constructed in the free cross plan with three apses and a central dome. The majority of the scenes depicted are devoted to important feasts. Those pertaining to Jesus's life are located on the south wall, while scenes of his childhood and passion are situated on the north wing. The resurrection, crucifixion, and the Nativity scenes are painted on both the south and north wings. The scene of Jesus being presented to the temple is painted above the apse in the south. It is placed in a very important and privileged location, in accordance with the symbolic value of the scene. The Transfiguration scene also occupies the western wall opposite the apse, which is a highly significant location. The baptismal scene is also painted in the western part. In addition to the aforementioned figures, other religious figures are depicted in the church. These include saints, who are sometimes depicted in medallions; bishops, who are seen in pendentives; and prophets and martyrs, who are seen in the remaining parts of the domes in the northern wall. Finally, Constantine and Helena complete the decor of the church at the bottom of the walls in the West Wing.
